System Flo2™ high air flow breathable tongues were developed to combat hot, sweaty and stinky skate shoes. STI research found that the thermal climate around the foot can be over 41°C (105°F) at 100% humidity while skating. This is because traditional skateboarding tongues are made with layers of dense foams and other materials that are all held together with thick, non-porous glue. STI focused on identifying the thermal problem areas of the foot and worked on controlling the thermal climate around the foot during skateboarding.
